5 Best New Songs This Week: Taylor Swift, Swarm Soundtrack, Tori Kelly & More

T.G.I.N.M.F., right? Thank gosh it's New Music Friday, because our weekend playlist was definitely in need of a refresh. The best new songs and releases of this week include four — yes, you read that right, four — new unreleased songs from Taylor Swift, the “sticky” original soundtrack to the new stan culture-inspired drama Swarm, from the mind of Donald Glover (slash Childish Gambino), Tori Kelly's triumphant return, two versions of Doechii's newest single, and the second single from 6LACK's forthcoming third studio album. Taylor Swift, “All of the Girls You Loved Before," “Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version), “Eyes Open (Taylor's Version),” and “If This Was A Movie (Taylor's Version)"

Taylor Swift is officially in her “Eras era.” The pop icon has officially set out on her latest concert tour, kicking off on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona. (Glendale has been temporarily renamed “Swift City” in honor of Taylor's two-night run there.) Ole generous Taylor decided to share a tour kickoff gift with fans, announcing on her Instagram Story on March 16: “In celebration of The Eras Tour I’m releasing 4 previously unreleased songs tonight at midnight.” These songs include the re-recorded Taylor's Versions of “Safe & Sound,” “Eyes Open,” and “If This Was a Movie,” as well as a never-before-heard record from the vault, “All of the Girls You Loved Before." Ni'jah, Childish Gambino, and KIRBY, Swarm Original Soundtrack

Swarm is all the buzz right now. As a companion to his new satirical drama, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) has released a 6-track EP that serves as the show's original soundtrack, with original music inspired by the series. SWARM the EP features music from the show's fictional artist Ni'jah, who is inspired by Beyoncé and is actually voiced by Grammy award-winning artist Kirby. 

“KIRBY has such a versatile sound and songwriting ability; she was able to elevate and amplify every moment she was a part of," Donald Glover said in a statement. “It’s been a pleasure to collaborate, to bring this story to life sonically and I couldn’t imagine what this would sound like without her involvement.” Swarm, starring Dominique Fishback, Chlöe Bailey, Damson Idris, Paris Jackson, and Billie Eilish, is now streaming on Prime Video. 

Tori Kelly, “Missin U”

Tori Kelly season is here, and it feels wonderful. “Missin U” is Tori's first single under her new deal with Epic Records, and what a re-introduction it is. The stunning vocalist has delivered a dreamy, Y2K-inspired visual to go along with her catchy new tune. Welcome back to the stage, Tori Kelly — the pop world has been “Missin U.” 

Doechii, “What It Is (Block Boy)”

Doechii is on a roll. As a follow-up to her smash records “Stressed,” “Crazy,” “Persuasive,” and her recent viral freestyle over Beyoncé's “America Has a Problem,” the Florida rapper has released “What It Is (Block Boy).” 

“This song is a fusion of nostalgia and pop vibes,” Doechii said about her new track in a statement. “I feel like I’m showing off a side of my vocal range with this one that my fans haven’t really seen yet. I love using the old samples of ‘No Scrubs’ and ‘Some Cut’ to mix in some playful energy as well." The song has arrived as two different versions: one featuring controversial rapper Kodak Black and another with Doechii on the track solo. You can listen to the solo version of “What It Is” above.

6lack, “Fatal Attraction”

Ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated third studio album Since I Have a Lover, 6lack has dropped the second single from the project. In “Fatal Attraction,” the singer and rapper laments about the toxic push-and-pull of a relationship that might be love, but also might end in flames. According to the track's press release, 6lack's newest full-length project “will house a collection of profound songs speaking on mental health, recovery, self-improvement, love, and reveal much about 6LACK’s personal journey navigating life's highs and lows.” Since I Have a Lover arrives on March 24.
