The unstructured shift dress is at the root of young fashion in the City of Lights. Printed, silk, you name it --Parisian girls can’t get enough of this wardrobe staple. Oh, the possibilities!
Worn throughout the year, these loose dresses are never pushed to the back of the closet. On a warm day, I’ve seen Parisian girls stroll around, pairing their short-sleeved shift dresses with silk scarves, bare legs and flats. When it’s a little cooler out, they’ll wear them with cardigans, scarves, tights and boots (ankle or not, take your pick!). This style translates really well into the evening too --I love it with heels, a fierce leather jacket, and statement jewelry.
Wherever in the world you may be, I’ve discovered that there are a few key brands that always seem to stock the shift. Try Comptoir des Cotonniers, Zadig &Voltaire, Sandro and See by Chloe. All French, and all available overseas, there’s no excuse not to bring a little bit of chicness to your hometown, so check it out!
