The vibe is already great for the 2026 Emmy nominations, because none other than Mariska Hargitay will host the television awards ceremony. It'll be the first time a woman has emceed the event in 15 years, Variety reported.
We got one step closer to Emmys 2026 on July 8, when actors Jeff Hiller and Liza Colón-Zayas announced the nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards live on the Television Academy website. The Emmys honor the best in television that came out between its June 1, 2025–May 31, 2026 eligibility window. This year's nominees include Connor Storrie for a non-Heated Rivalry project, both Fanning sisters, Zendaya, Chase Infiniti, and many more.

This year's Emmys celebration will be held on Monday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET and will air exclusively on NBC and Peacock.
Who is hosting the Emmys?
The iconic Mariska Hargitay will host Emmys 2026. An Emmy winner herself, she's been nominated eight times in the Outstanding Actress in a Drama category.
Who is eligible for an Emmy?
As stated above, the eligibility window for the Primetime Emmys is June 1, 2025–May 31, 2026. There are, of course, lots of other rules and restrictions—including where and how a project was created, since it has to be in the US or a co-production in the US.
That's why there's been so much discussion about Heated Rivalry getting Emmy nominations—sadly, the series and its cast and crew are not eligible because its a Crave production, based in Canada. An Emmys spokesperson told Billboard, "Per the Television Academy’s rules, foreign television production is ineligible in the Television Academy’s Emmy competition unless it is the result of a co-production (both financially and creatively) between US and foreign partners, which precedes the start of production.”
