Rumors are swirling about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, and the questions about the nuptials are starting to pop up too. Who will make her dress? Who's invited to the wedding? Are they really getting married at MSG and shutting down actual NYC streets for it? And, is she going to wear red lipstick?
Over the years, the quintessential Taylor Swift look has been associated with her trademark red lip. The star began famously wearing red lipstick in 2009 after appearing on the cover of Allure. Since then, it's been her signature color and has even inspired multiple lyrics. But is she going to walk down the aisle in it? That remains to be seen.
Swift has switched up her red lipstick multiple times over the years, giving her cosign to shades from MAC, NARS, and Pat McGrath, among others. The last time the star donned a true bright red lippie at a public event was at the 55th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala in NYC on June 11, 2026. On June 28, she also paired a red dress by M'RHEN with a red lip to promote “I Knew It, I Knew You” in Nashville. (You can see photos from that private event here.)
A bright red lip is not a bridal go-to, but brides are often told to wear what they are most comfortable in on their wedding day, and for Swift, that is usually a red lip. In an interview with InStyle from 2013, the star also said that a red lip had become "her comfort zone" and that she felt like it could easily make any outfit "pop." She added: "Sometimes I'll just completely put nothing on my face except for a red lip and it somehow looks like you have makeup on."
We are assuming her wedding makeup glam will be a little bit more complex than just lipstick, so she might not need the comfort that a red lip has provided over the years. Also, while the red lip is an undeniable Taylor Swift trademark, the star has also been gravitating towards warmer, cinnamon browns and terracottas as of late.
Just days after her last red lip public outing, Swift was spotted out and about in NYC wearing a peachy brown lip, which you can see above. The star also favored a similar shade while posing backstage with the Oh, Mary! cast and Travis Kelce on Broadway the same week. In May, she also attended an NBA game alongside her fiancée in a similar shade.
As a matter of fact, it's been years since Swift started alternating between her go-to red and those warmer, terracotta-inspired shades. Back in 2024, the star's longtime makeup artist, Lorrie Turk, revealed that one of her go-to lipstick shades was NARS's Morocco.
So, will it be red or cinnamon for the wedding? Or something entirely different? Both Swift and Kelce are remaining entirely tight-lipped about their nuptials and planning, so we will have to wait and see, but I think we should remember that celebs usually have more than one look for such ceremonies.
