K-pop Stars HyunA and Dawn Break Up After 6 Years Together

HyunA and Dawn have officially broken up. The beloved K-pop power couple has called it quits after six years of dating.

HyunA herself announced the news on November 30 on her Instagram account, posting a screenshot of a small note for fans to her main grid. "We broke up. We decided to remain good friends and colleagues from now on. Thank you always for your support and for looking over us fondly," the simple letter reads, in Korean, per a translation by Soompi.

Dawn later also took to his Instagram to post his own note about the breakup. “Even if we broke up, [HyunA] is still just as precious to me, more sincere and cool than anyone I’ve seen, and the artist I will continue to love most,” the singer wrote, per a translation by Soompi, while discouraging fans from speculation or spreading malicious comments.

To say news of HyunA and Dawn's amicable breakup has taken fans aback would be an understatement, with many taking to social platforms to share their sorrow and surprise. “Ok now I officially don’t believe in love,” wrote one fan underneath HyunA's Instagram post.

HyunA and Dawn, previously label mates at Cube Entertainment, began dating sometime in 2016 but did not go public with their relationship until 2018. After making their relationship public, the two parted ways with their company to be together. 

They joined “Gangnam Style” hitmaker PSY's record label, PNation, together in 2019 and went on to become a mainstay in tandem. Though both signed as soloists, HyunA and Dawn also released projects and even performed live as a duo. (They had previously also performed together as part of Cube Entertainment's trio Triple H, alongside PENTAGON member Hui.)

The pair made headlines after sharing a picture of what appeared to be engagement rings on their Instagram back in February of this year, though they never explicitly confirmed the news. The breakup is not the only major change in HyunA and Dawn's lives as of late. In August, the duo also announced their departure from PNation.
