Season eight of Love Island USA might have come to an end, but the online discourse hasn’t stopped, and now that the cast members have their phones back, they're urging fans to reel in the hateful comments in its aftermath, especially those directed towards Zach Georgiou.
Ever since Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff were crowned as the winners of Love Island USA season eight on July 12, the internet has been ablaze with opinions galore, some nice and some not so much, and the cast members want to remind everyone that they see everything.
On July 13, Tatum took to her Instagram Story to post a PSA for fans to be kinder online. “Coming out [of] the villa, one, I want to say I'm very blessed and appreciative of the love & support everyone has given me,” she wrote. “With that being said I wanna say the hate & ignorant comments some of you guys are doing regarding Zach is absolutely not okay and needs to stop.”
Tatum added that “it's very disheartening” to see the negative and hateful comments directed towards her fellow cast member and reminded fans that Love Island participants “are people just like everyone else.” She added: “We genuinely have love for each other inside and out of the villa and he's one of the most amazing people I've met so please have some empathy.”
Shortly after it was posted, Dettloff reshared Tatum’s statement to his own stories, as did Melissa Moreno and Aniya Harvey, all of whom were tagged on the post. Kayda Bosse, who wasn’t originally tagged, also reshared the statement to her stories. Tatum also tagged Georgiou himself, as well as Carl Schmidt and Sincere Rhea.
Georgiou’s castmates are not the only ones standing up for him, either. His older brother, Charlie Georgiou, who previously appeared in season seven of Love Island USA, is also leaving various messages on Threads. “Genuinely, I don’t need support from people that bully my brother online for absolute minute reasons. You’d think he’s been canceled for something illegal the way you are talking about him,” one of his posts reads. He also wrote that “the truth about the false narratives portrayed about his time there will be spoken on soon.”
