I am currently two months, three apartments, nine blisters, and one pair of Louboutins into my internship and loving it. This summer has been an incredible experience, full of many highs and I can't imagine what the next two months will hold.  Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, I don't think I would have ever imagined myself living in New York City and interning at one of THE best fashion magazines.

I made the move to Toronto in order to pursue a degree in Fashion Communications, and found the experience I gained outside of school equally as important as that from the classroom. I interned at Flare magazine during my second and third years, worked with designer Paul Hardy and interned with public relations specialists ASC Communications --all invaluable and extremely important on forming my strengths and identifying my interests. I definitely recommend trying to get as much and as diverse experience as you can- you never know when you're going to have to whipstitch the odd seam or cold call dozens of invitees to an exclusive event.

I intern at Teen Vogue four days a week for Truc, one of the Fashion Assistants. I help return samples after photo shoots, put in requests for editors and run the occasional errand around Manhattan. Now I understand that for most a "closet" doesn't sound like one of the most inspiring locations --a windowless, cluttered room packed from floor to ceiling usually comes to mind- but when that closet is filled with everything from the most recognized designers to Indie brands, from crystal encrusted Choos to Chuck Taylors it easily transforms into an incredible space. A helpful hint for the next Teen Vogue interns -- being accountable for your actions is an extremely important asset! What has surprised me the most is the level of responsibility afforded to each intern; a lot is expected of you, but in return you feel like a vital part of the magazine.
