Over the years, we have seen K-pop idols sporting the controversial Crocs clogs both casually and dressed up. Last month, we thought we had already witnessed what we believed were the biggest Crocs we would ever see on BLACKPINK member Jennie, but now? We stand corrected.
On May 5, Taeyong, a member of the K-Pop mega group NCT, took to Instagram to share an all-black outfit, complete with the actual biggest Crocs we’ve ever seen — at least for now. We’ve witnessed Crocs on NCT members before (Mark wore his complete with Jibbitz charms spelling out the group’s name in 2021), but never like this.
Taeyong chose the so-called HARDCROCS™ from Balenciaga and Crocs' longstanding collaboration for his 'fit, and the shoes truly took his goth-inspired "summer" look to the next level.
Even from afar, the huge platform clogs bejeweled with screws and bolts were the only thing we could focus on but, of course, Taeyong added layers. His outfit was topped off with a simple black baseball cap from Celine, bringing together the entire look as he posed on some concrete steps.
Fans took to Twitter to share their reactions to Taeyong's latest post, and his giant Crocs are taking center stage in the discourse. “One dance practice in these and that SM building is gonna collapse,” said one fan. “This is the reason why their building is resonating,” said another, joking about the recent investigations of tremors at the entertainment company’s headquarters that were concluded to be the result of “concentrated, rhythmic group movement.”
We’re really hoping these shoes don’t have too much of an impact on the structural integrity of the building but they truly are humongous. (Despite the hard-to-style size, Taeyong certainly rocks them, we must admit!)
The Balenciaga x Crocs collaboration has really paved the way for stars to showcase their taste in massive shoes, so don’t mind us as we keep our eyes peeled for the next idol to step out in another pair of colossal clogs. We are ready to be proven wrong again!
