Whether it’s by accident or on purpose, it looks like everyone is getting a taste of that pink venom — just ask Tinashe.

On September 21, Tinashe uploaded a TikTok of herself taking part in BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” dance challenge. The funny thing is that she didn’t know she was dancing to BLACKPINK’s choreography. The “2 On” singer captioned her video "WOAH WOAH WOAH 😋💛” and credited TikTok dancer Jaeden Rae Gomez, who had posted a video dancing to “Pink Venom,” the pre-release single from the K-pop girl group. In the comments section of the video, Jaeden thanked Tinashe while politely informing her that she was not the creator of the choreography. “AYEEEEE YESSSSS (this isn’t my dance tho hehe! it’s blackpinks!),” she wrote. “Stopppppp lol I thought it was yours,” Tinashe responded.

Let’s be clear — Tinashe’s mistake is forgivable. The “Pink Venom” challenge is very popular and we cannot fault her for wanting to ensure that she gave credit to a TikTok creator. Normally, TikTok content creators (especially those who are Black) have to fight to receive recognition for the viral dance trends they create.

But it’s also exciting to see Tinashe continue to show BLACKPINK love, given that the group has long respected her work. In July 2020, Lisa released a dance practice cover of her song “Party Favors,” which Tinashe liked and retweeted; she’s also currently following all four members of the group on Instagram.

BLACKPINK aren’t the only K-pop artists to give Tinashe — a historically underrated performer — her flowers. BTS’s J-Hope has mentioned in previous interviews that he would like to collaborate with the “Bouncin” singer (and even had her as his computer background at one point). Jay Park name-dropped her in his song “All I Wanna Do,” and she even featured on “Freal Luv” with Far East Movement, EXO’s Chanyeol, and Marshmello.

Could we one day see a collaboration between the two artists? We all know that both Tinashe and the ladies of BLACKPINK are very busy at this present moment. Tinashe recently released a new song “Who’s Gonna Love You Tonight” with Snakehips and performed at the NFL season opener alongside Halle Bailey. Simultaneously, BLACKPINK released their new album BORN PINK and are soon about to embark on a world tour. Still, we’ll keep hoping that between their busy schedules they can do a song together, or maybe Tinashe can feature on one of Lisa’s LILIFILM dance covers. Fingers crossed.
